I was a balloon; lifeless and without shape.
I lay here with other balloons, waiting hopefully.
And then it happened, you happened, WE happened.
I met you and as helium you transformed me.
I gained the power of flight with you inside of me;
All problems were beneath me, all concerns far behind me as I flew,
As you allowed me, enabled me to fly.
To soar to new heights undreamed of, to experience things only hoped for.
You fill me, give me shape, define me.
Within me, the essence of you, presence of you, sustains me;
But also leaves me more vulnerable to sharp objects
Like cruel words, anger and rejection from you.
And the fear of what will be left of me if I lose you.
Be careful as you fill me up,
Too much and I will explode,
Too little and I will never truly fly.
